About Gulmarg Gondola
Gulmarg Gondola is a cable car in Gulmarg, Jammu, and Kashmir. It is a special attraction of Gulmarg and furthermore, it is the longest and highest cable car project in Asia. The gondola has a two-stage ropeway that has to carry a capacity of approximately 600 people each hour. Kongdoori mountain has a height of 4,200m (13,780ft) and it is the first place where tourists board the Gondola. This cable car project is the result of the scheme of the state government and in addition, a French firm, Pomagalski. It carries people from the Gulmarg resort which lies at an elevation of 2,600 (m) (8,530 (ft), to the Kongdoori stop station in its first stage, on the contrary, the second part has 36 cabins and 18 towers which carry the people up to an elevation of 3,747 (m) (12,293 (ft) near Afarwat Peak which has a height of 4,200m (13,780ft).
Gondola Ride, Gulmarg
Every Gondola has a yellow-colored small cabin and each cabin can carry 6 adult persons. It is one of the highest active cable cars in the world. High strength steel cables suspend the gondola and furthermore, these cables keep moving continuously. It takes two stops and slows down to the board and disembark riders. Phase-I and phase-II are two stages. The Phase-I ride takes around 9 minutes, and phase-II takes around 12 minutes.

Gondola Cable Car ride has another name, namely the Gondola Lift. It is located at a distance of about 1km towards the west of the Gulmarg bus stop. The Gulmarg Gondola is managed by the state cable car corporation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Gondola ride has two parts, one starts from Gulmarg to Kongdoori, on the other hand, the second one starts from Kongdoori to Apherwat. It starts from an elevation of 2690 m goes up to a height of 3090 m. It passes through over the wonderful and steep pine forests and in addition, it also passes through the stunning meadow of colorful flowers called Khilanmarg. The Gulmarg Gondola is the only single cable car system in Asia that can go up to an altitude of 13,500 feet.
