girl watering plants for letting them breathe

Breather: The valued one

Weekends call for relaxation, entertainment, as well as for cleaning. What starts as a lazy morning blend into an afternoon of decluttering and an evening of getting rid of the last dust particles. The weekends are for taking a break from the hectic schedule of the rest of the week and gives a temporary halt to our deadlines and never-ending emails. But when one starts introspecting, one realizes even the weekends are of the same nature just of different forms. Say for instance the alarm clock goes off for weekends but we are already mentally awake. The checking of mails takes a break but surveying the garden, looking after those plants, whom you tried hard not to ignore during weekdays, bloom when you water them on weekends. The to-do list for the weekend is made even before the weekend begins. We all make another planner for ourselves without even realizing it. So how are weekends or weekdays any different. Why is there a wave of happiness on seeing that weekend is a day or two far and a small heartbreak on realizing the weekend passed away swiftly than expected?
Well, that is all because of the mental stress associated with the rest of the days and mental peace related to weekends. We do the same thing every weekend with a little bit of difference but nevertheless, we are waiting desperately for it to arrive. Weekends give us a breather. They simply let us do things that we love to do without any deadline or penalty. We start the day by watering the plants and end by talking to them about life issues. Weekdays don’t offer this kind of routine. It is just the opposite. We get enough time to look past our rigid choices and give a chance to other options as well. weekends are all about going beyond the weekdays in any manner possible.
Though as such there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a strict weekday plan. Having discipline in life is a must. Weekdays test our time management, responsiveness, and patience. A minute late, we are required to compensate for an hour. But weekdays do have their own essence. They are the reason because of which weekends are revered. If anyhow they are messed, weekends will lose their charm.
Somewhat similar was witnessed when lockdown started. Everything was on halt. Our plans, deadlines, projects, ideas, and weekends. Every day seemed the same. There was no rush to reach the office as it was a click away, no hurry to finish the assignment due to no time limit. All these things resulted in a decrease in the need for weekends. As everyone was on an indefinite break, weekends lost their charm.
Simply put the craze about the arrival of weekends owes everything to the pressure built by the weekdays. Without one another can’t glow. They aren’t substitutes rather they are complements. The need and importance of both are immense. So when next time you snooze the alarm on a weekend, give thanks to your weekday as well. Both go hand in hand. Happy weekend!
